Step 1: Update QuickBooks Desktop
If you have not done so before, update QuickBooks to the most recent version.
Step 2: Update your file location
The location of the company file stored on a server, external hard drive, or on the cloud should be changed. Follow these instructions to copy it to your local disc and then restore it.
Note: These steps are best handled on the server computer (the system that stores the company files). It is fine if you cannot see it because I understand. These steps can be carried out on any available workstation (a server-connected PC that is not responsible for storing the company file).
- Launch the Windows Start menu on your server or desktop PC.
- Search for "File Explorer" and then open it.
- Find the QuickBooks folder you need to access it. If you have QuickBooks open, you may also hit F2 to bring up the current location.
- Discover the QBW-ending business file you need. This is how it should look: [company name].qbw.
- Pen down the name and location of the driver. You must be pasting the file back later.
- Copy all company file to the C: drive from here.
